Our list here might differ from yours but the basic essentials are the same. Even if you have been wearing hijab for many years sometimes its just nice to go through your wardrobe to freshen things up and get a bit of inspiration.
Some things to consider when trying to wear more modest clothing is the length of the sleeves, higher necklines, longer length tops, no see-through fabrics and looser cuts.

HIJABS
It’s important to have the right fabric for your hijabs in the warmer weather. Light cotton, chiffon or georgette fabrics are the best for hijabs during the warmer weather. Essential colours are black, beige and light dusty pink. These in our opinion will match with most colours. Here are our favourite hijabs from MODANISA.
LONG SLEEVE-SHIRT/BODY TOP
These long body tops/t-shirts can be brought in many high street shops. These can be worn underneath see-through tops, low necks or short sleeve tops and dresses. For the summer buy them in thin fabric. Essential colours would be black and white.
LEGGINGS
Leggings are an essential piece of clothing for a Muslimah, even in the summer. They can be worn under dresses or any see-through clothing. For summer buy light fabric leggings.
LONG JACKETS
Long jackets are very modest. They can be worn over shorter tops. For spring/summer weather buy trench coats and duster jackets. You can buy different styles of jackets in different colours. Here are our favourites trench coats.
OPEN ABAYA AND KIMONO
Open abayas and kimonos are so feminine and classy. They can be thrown over a pair of jeans or a dress. You can wear a dressy one for a more formal event or a casual one for casual days. Abayas and kimonos can be styled in many ways. Our favourite Abayas from MODANISA.
WIDE LEG TROUSERS
We love wide-leg trousers. You can wear them for informal or formal gatherings. They are very versatile as you can dress them up or down and they are flattering on most people,
LONG SHIRTS OR MIDI DRESSES
Another very versatile piece that every Muslimah should have in her wardrobe. Available in many cuts and styles and you can dress them up or stay casual. Here are some of our favourite pieces from MODANISA
MAXI DRESSES
Maxi dresses are so comfortable and cute. So many modest cuts and styles available. In the summer they look so lovely and flowy. They are easily available to buy from many high street shops. A few things to watch out for when buying a maxi dress are
1. How deep is the neckline. If it’s deep you might have to wear a top underneath it. Is this something you want to do in warm weather.
2.Look out for the lining underneath, many of the maxi dresses that you buy from high street retailers, their lining underneath the dress tends to come short on the skirt of the dress and no lining on the sleeves.
3. Lookout for slits on the sides, more styles are coming with slits.
Many of the modest fashion businesses keep these points in mind when selling modest wear.
